This piece of wood "plank" is a portion of the original wood plank taken from the Joseph Smith Home, Harmony, New York. The wood had been badly eaten up by rats by 5/8 inch and split with the grain. It was taken by the architectural engineer of the restoration project from the West wall of the 2^{nd} room of what is believed to have been Emma Smith's first bedroom. It was cut out of a larger piece of "perfect" wood.
It was taken from the interior of the structure and had served as a closet base board. By dry cave excavation it is estimated that the wood is now 1/16 inch to 1/8 inch of the size but is in a "perfect" state of preservation. It will be used to help restore some parts to restore the home to its original status.
